I was walking into Costco with my teenage niece and preteen daughter. We were minding our own business when a man approached me and immediately said, “I love you. I love you. You’re beautiful.” I just said “nope” and walked past him to get my shopping done.
Unfortunately when we were heading back to our car, he was still lingering in the parking lot. He approached me again and said, “You’re gonna miss me huh?” And I immediately shouted, “Stay the FUCK away from me” then proceeded to aggressively bark at him and then say, “Stay back because I can out-crazy you”
His response? “What makes you think I’m crazy?”
Like sir. Your opening line was I LOVE YOU. To a stranger who was with CHILDREN.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had to deal with an interaction like that, but thankfully in the meantime the internet has taught me that I don’t owe politeness to those who make me uncomfortable.
